Jerry Dean Glenn, 68, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Banner Del E. Webb Hospital in Sun City West, Arizona. He was surrounded by his daughters and their love after a brave yet brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jerry was born May 1, 1949 in Knoxville to Verne and LaVerne (Langdon) Glenn. He grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1967. After high school in 1968, Jerry served on the front lines of the Vietnam War. He was wounded in combat and returned home in 1970.

Jerry then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years before his retirement in 2004. He moved to Sun City West, AZ in 2010 so he could live out his retirement on the golf course.

Jerry loved nothing more than playing golf, his dogs RC and Chrissy and his daughters and grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Kent) Wilke of Des Moines, Jackie Glenn of Manhattan Beach, CA; his brother Bill (Patty) Glenn of Des Moines; his sister Beverly Johnson of Centerville; nieces Tammy (Al) Eaton of Knoxville and Kim O'Bryon of Allen, TX; nephews Christopher Glenn of Ankeny and Jason Johnson of Dallas,TX; grandchildren Harper and Henry Glenn of Manhattan Beach, CA; great-nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Chrissy. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog RC.

The family will be honoring Jerry with a committal service at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel. Van Meter exit) on Tuesday October 10, 2017 which will begin promptly at 2pm.

A reception will be immediately following the service at the Veterans Reception Center (American Legion Post 403, 910 Main St.) in Van Meter.
