Jeanne Virginia Sletta, born June 26, 1921 went to be with her Savior on July 25, 2011 after a wonderful life. Jeanne was born in Albia, Iowa to Monrad and Grace Mikkelson (Shaw).

She grew up in south central Iowa and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1939.

After high school she moved to Colorado Springs and worked at Aircraft Mechanics during World War II. She met her future husband on a "Blind Date" at the old Antlers' Hotel.

Jeanne married Lester J. Sletta on July 14, 1945 in Minnesota. After marriage, Les and Jeanne made their lives in Colorado Springs. Lester passed away in June of 2005. One of many wonderful memories that are shared among friends and family alike is that Jeanne would never refuse anything sweet.

Jeanne is survived by her son Stephen J. Sletta and his wife Marti Devine Sletta of Monument, CO and her granddaughter Lauren K. Sletta and her partner Jessica L. Meadows of Ft. Collins, CO.

Jeanne had eight nieces and nephews including Sarah O'Shea (Sletta) and her husband Barry who live in Colorado Springs with their children Katie and Caroline.

Jeanne was a partner in a warehouse business with June Aune and their long-time manager, Karen Butcher.

The family expresses its thanks for the wonderful care provided for Jeanne at the Country Club Villa Assisted Living Home in Colorado Springs especially Franck Martin, Lynda, Eileen, Kristi, Sonja, Rachel, Kimberly, Adele, Cristal and Laura.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at First Lutheran Church , 1515 North Cascade Ave.

The family requests that contributions be made to the church in Jeanne's memory.
