Services for James Cyril Swanson who died Feb. 19, 1989, at the age of 64,
were held at RLDS Church in Knoxville, Iowa on Feb. 22, 1989 with the
Elder Arthur Nichols and Elder Dick Young officiating.

Music was provided by Tammy Miller, pianist and
Jim & Annette Trinkle, vocalists. Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral Home.

James Cyril Swanson, the son of Roy Swanson and Edith Lavina Robinson Swanson, was born
April 4, 1924 at Lamoni, Iowa.

Mr. Swanson was united in marriage to
Marilyn Jean Luke on July 20, 1947 in Melcher, Iowa. To this union nine children were born.

Mr. Swanson entered World War II and served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters.
Mr. Swanson was badly wounded and received the Purple Heart, the French Fourragere, the Good Conduct Medal and three
Overseas Service Barrs.

Mr. Swanson was baptized on May 26, 1933 as a member of the R.L.D.S. Church. On Apr. 26, 1942 he
was ordained to the office of Priest. On Feb. 1, 1959 he was ordained as an Elder and
later was called to be presiding Elder at the church in Knoxville.

Mr. Swanson served as a minister for 46 years, he was a farmer, a mechanic and a handyman. He worked as a nursing assistant for
the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa until retiring in 1975.

Mr. Swanson was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Knoxville, five sons, James D. Swanson of
Roy A. Swanson of Hartford, Mark Swanson of Knoxville and Joel Swanson of Knoxville, four daughters; Mrs. Keith Candy) Lundy of Tracy, Mrs.
Lloyd (Cathy) Hedrick Jr. of Melcher,
Mrs. Rand D. (Christy) Mecham of Knoxville, Mrs. Dean (Connie)
Gilchrist of Knoxville; two sisters; Mrs. Carl (Florence) Mohler of Monroe, Mrs.
Paul (Lavina) Wright of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
