Imogene Leona (Ream) Fee, age 90 of Knoxville, Iowa, and formerly of Hemet, California died early Wednesday morning, November 9, 2016, at the Pella Hospice Comfort House in Pella.
Imogene’s wishes were to be cremated and visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M., Friday, November 18, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville.
The family will be greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday evening.
A celebration of Imogene’s life will be held at 7:00 P.M., Friday evening, November 18, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Pastor Brent Hanna will be officiating. A private family burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery prior to services.
Imogene was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 15, 1926. Shortly afterward she was adopted by Charlie N. and Essie Leona (Woolsey) Ream.
The Ream family made their home in Knoxville where Imogene went to school and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1944.
After graduation, she was a country school teacher in Marion County at the Rising Star and Columbia Country Schools.
Later she was a substitute teacher and worked for the county superintendent of schools.
On June 30, 1946, Imogene and John Edward Fee were united in marriage. They shared 69 years of marriage together and were blessed with four children: Connie, LuAnn, Lori, and Roger.
Imogene was a homemaker most of her life. She and John raised their family in Knoxville and Imogene enjoyed working and helping at the Knoxville Public Library.
She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
After John retired and their family was raised Imogene and John moved to Hemet, California. Imogene began volunteering at the Hemet Public Library, the Western Science Center, and also at Mount San Jacinto State Park in Palm Springs, California.
Imogene was also a member of the Hemet Methodist Church, P.E.O., and she loved reading and shopping.
Imogene is survived by her children, Connie Lenger of Knoxville, Lori Sinnard and husband Jeff of Knoxville, and Roger Fee and Annette Page of Indianola and foreign exchange daughter Georgia Quirch and husband Jorge of Palatine, IL; six grandchildren, Tonya McDonald, Chad Davies, Adam Sinnard, Scott Fee, Joni Hannon, and Nicole Page; and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Leona Ream; her husband John Fee; one daughter LuAnn Fee; and 4 children in infancy.
She is also preceded by three sons-in-law, Bloyce Davies, Jon Lenger, and Daniel Lee Lennie.
Memorial contributions may be given in Imogene’s name to the Pella Hospice Comfort House. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Imogene’s family with services.
