Services for Howard Hartman Jones, 63, of Knoxville, who died Feb. 15, 1985 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines was held on Feb. 18 at Williams Funeral Home.

Interment was in Bellefontaine Cemetery, Mahaska County. Rev. John Beebout officiated at
the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry, organist, and James Kidder,
soloist. Pallbearers were Steve Hamler, Dave Haugen, Gary Lanphier, Kenny Lanphier,
Don Rooda, and Denny Toll.

Mr. Jones was born on March 5, 1921, in Knoxville, the son of William Hillis and Mabel Ann Brawner Jones. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1948. He was a World War II veteran, serving over three years in the Navy as Quartermaster on an L.C.T. ship.

On June 24, 1946, at Indianola, he married Nellie Mae Lanphier. He lived most of his life in Torrance, Calif. as a self-employed auto mechanic, moving back to Knoxville in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 169 and V.F.W. Post No. 3519.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Corwin; and one grandson. Michael H. Hogan.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mary Hogan of Long Beach, Calif. and Becky Pottridge of Attica; two sons, Bill of Denver, Col., and Reggie of Anaheim, Calif.; eight grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Stubbs of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
