Homer Lawrence Teter was born November 6, 1918, at Knoxville, Iowa, the third of six children born to William Amos and Emma Grace (Prindle) Teter.
Homer served in the U.S. Navy and was at Pearl Harbor on the day of the Japanese attack, December 7, 1941. After serving 25 years, he retired, bought a farm near Louisville, NE., then attended college and graduated with a degree in psychology.
He then lived in San Juan, Costa Rica and returned to the United States in 1986 buying a motor home to live in. Homer later bought a house near Republican City, NE., to live near his daughter, Julie Harms. In his final years he lived with his daughter, Nancy Stubbs in Durango, CO.
On July 25, 1942, Homer married Anna Louise Maxwell. They had two children together, Lawrence Alan Teter, and Nancy Ann Teter. Homer and Louise divorced in 1952.
Homer again married on July 8, 1952, to Jean Carol Eastman in Oakland, CA. Two children were born to this marriage, David Michael Teter and Julie Catherine Teter.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Teter, and three siblings: James Wesley Teter, Donald Samuel Teter, and Velta Edith Teter Jarman.
He is survived by three children: Nancy Ann Stubbs and her husband Bill, David Michael Teter and his wife Jeanne, Julie Catherine Harms and her husband Gregory; his sister, Mary Arlene "Arlene" Teter Young and brother Mervin Leroy Teter both living in California, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Homer passed away from pneumonia at the age of 92 on September 11, 2011 in Durango, Colorado.
