Henry Eugene Vander Heiden, Jr. was born on November 7, 1947 in Kassel, Germany. He was the oldest of two children born to Henry E. Vander Heiden and Lottie Jablonska. “Hank” graduated from the Knoxville High School with the class of 1967.

On August 19, 1978 he was united in marriage to Diane Kay Jensen at the Christian Church in Knoxville. He worked at Maytag Co. in Newton, Iowa for 32 years.

He not only served in the National Guard, but was also a Veteran of the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. He enjoyed his art work, loved to fish and his dogs.

Hank passed away very unexpectedly at home on May 30, 2017 at the age of 69 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Diane of Knoxville, his sister, Chris Minella of Ottumwa, Iowa, his nephew, Jeff and Dovie Minella, two great nieces and sister-in-law, Sally Jensen. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Robert and Virginia Jensen, and brother-in-law, Larry Jensen. Hank will be missed by many who lives he touched.
