Helen Lorene (Hindman) Chandler was born March 31, 1913, in Marion County, Iowa the daughter of William R. and Nina Edith Wells Hindman.

She graduated from Knoxville High School (Class of 1930) and attended Central College in Pella for two years.
She taught school in rural Flagler, East River Ridge, and also in Pella for several years.

Helen was united in marriage to Harland Chandler on September 29, 1950, in Ida Grove. The couple lived their entire married life in Knoxville.

She was a case worker for Marion County Social Services, and also served as a bookkeeper for the Otley Elevator.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and its Altar Guild in Knoxville.

Helen, 84, died January 17, 1998 at Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Robert Hindman.

Helen is survived by her husband of Knoxville; two sisters, Edith Bosch of Monroe, and Leila Wilkins of Ida Grove.
Funeral services for Helen, was held January 20, 1998, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville.

Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Pastor Leon Hodges officiated at the services. Music was provided by Joan Arnott, pianist, and
Dr. Gordon Arnott Sr., vocalist.

Pallbearers were Craig Bosch, Ronald Bosch, Tim Bosch, Erin Bosch, Richard Hunt, and Dick Miller.

Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
