Mrs. Helen (Bittenbender) Vroom died at her home in Des Moines, Saturday morning, September 28, age 22 years,11 months and 11 days.

The deceased had been in poor health for three years and had bedfast a week previous to her death. She was afflicted with Hodgkin’s disease, a rare disease affecting the glands of the neck.

Helen Bittenbender, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. W.R Bittenbender, was born October 9, 1907.She attended the local public schools but did not graduate, married Gerald C. Vroom, of Pella, at Oskaloosa, March 30, 1923, a few weeks before graduation. To this union two children were born, Gerald and Edward.

Mr.and Mrs. Vroom lived in Oskaloosa a year after there marriage, after which they moved to a farm near Des Moines, where Mr.Vroom has been operating a diary farm for several years.
The deceased had been a member of the Christen church for nine years.

Mrs. Vroom is survived by her husband; two sons; parents Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Bittenbender; four sisters; Mrs. Frances Mater; Colleen; Dorothy; and Wilberta Bittenbender; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Bittenbender and Mr.and Mrs. E. L. Mark all of Knoxville.

Funeral services were held from the Christian church in Knoxville, Monday September 30,at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Knight, pastor of the Highland Park Christian church, Des Moines , assisted by Rev. C.V. Pence and Rev. Cowenhoven, the latter of Tracy.

Interments was made in Graceland Cemetery.
