Services for Gladys Adell (Taylor) Johnson, 85, who died Sept. 16, 1982 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held Sept. 17 at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.

Interment was in Breckenridge Cemetery.
Rev. Wayne Hoehns officiated at
the services. Services were also “conducted by Knoxville Chapter No. 85 D.E.S.

Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 5, 1896 in Mahaska Co., Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Marietta Beaver Taylor.
She lived her early life on a farm. near Flagler, Iowa.

She graduated from Knoxville High School in the class of 1915.
She was married to John J. Pierce on Sept. 19, 1921 at Dennison, Iowa.
They first lived in Knoxville where the couple operated the Candy Kitchen. Later in life they operated movie theatres in Story City, Fort Dodge and later operated theatres for the Blank family of Des Moines.

The couple moved to Cal. in 1947 where she worked as laboratory Medical technologist for twenty years.GladysTaylor2
She was married to C. Edward Johnson on Aug. 1, 1959 at Reno, Nev. and the couple made their home in Santa Cruz and Anaheim, Cal. In Feb. 1976 they moved to Denver, Col. She moved to Knoxville on Jan. 29, 1981.

She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Knoxville, a member of Chapter No. 85 O.E.S. in Knoxville, a high priestess in the White Shrine at
and past president of the Federated Women’s Club of Story City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward on Sept. 8, 1980.
