Gereldene Edna (Snyder) Cart was born Jan. 13, 1922,in Knoxville, the daughter of Forrest Snyder and Violet (Bane) Snyder.
Jeri graduated from Knoxville High School in 1939. Following high school, she worked for Bane Abstract.
On Aug. 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to Herman Cart in Unionville, Mo. Herman was in the service
and the couple lived in Virginia, England, Ft. Leonardwood, Ames, St. Paul, and Bolivia.
In 1960, Jeri returned to Knoxville and in December of that year, she took a job with the A.S.C.S. office. In 1982, she retired.
Five years ago, she moved to a care facility in Newton, and for the last four years, she has lived in the Solon Nursing Home.
Jeri was active in the Knoxville community; she volunteered at the Knoxville Hospital
and at the VA Medical Center. She was also active in the Methodist Church and the
Nazareth White Shrine, of which she was Past Worthy High Prdesiring, memorialyed the senior.
She passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at the Solon Nursing Home at the age of 86.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann " Patty" Lindly of Newton; son Richard L. (Deb) Cart of Lisbon; seven grandchildren, Don Lindly, Diana Hughes, Doris Sloan, Tim Cart, Toby Cart, Molly Cart, and Mandy Slaton; 17 great-grandchildren
and six great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Oct. 4 at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville with Rev. Norman Bennett officiating. Internment was in Gosport Cemetery in rural Marion County. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's.
