Funeral services for Geraldine (Kading) Fisher Dawson, 96, of Knoxville, who died Saturday,
Jan. 25, 2003 at West Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, were held Tuesday,
Jan. 28, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Kowbel officiated at the services.
Katie Davis was the vocalist.

Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Casketbearers were Kevin Clark,
Rick Kauzlarich, David Lovell, and Dan Rendall.

Geraldine was born on January 22, 1907, in the Franklin Township of Marion County,
the daughter of Fredrick William Kading and Charlotte (Goering) Kading. She was
raised in the Knoxville area and graduated from Knoxville High School.

On April 2, 1926 she was united in marriage to Samuel S. Fisher II in Oskaloosa.
The couple first made their home in the Donnelly neighborhood, eventually buying
a farm south of Knoxville. Geraldine enjoyed farm life and the Garden Club. Samuel
passed away in 1959.

In May 1962 Geraldine married Leonard Dawson. She and Leonard lived in the Des Moines
area until moving to Knoxville in 1989. Leonard passed away in 1998. Since October
2002 Geraldine has resided in West Ridge Nursing Center.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters, Naomi and Velma,
and three brothers, Burl, Dale and Fredrick.

She is survived by a son, Sam Fisher of Knoxville; a sister, Charlotte Lovell of Melcher-Dallas; three granddaughters, Sue Kauzlarich, Sally Clark and Katie Fisher
and four great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
