Geneva (Simpson) Osland, 57, of Rte. 1, Grinnell, died of cancer Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1986, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Craig Peters of the Kellogg United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.

The daughter of Dale and Montie Heck Simpson, she was born on Aug. 30, 1929, at Knoxville. She graduated from Knoxville High School and worked as a printing press opertor at the Maytag Co. for 29 years.
She lived in Newton from 1947 until 1960 when she moved to Kellogg, then moved to the Grinnell area in 1981.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Osland, whom she married on June 26, 1976, at Kellogg; one son, Gary Altemeier of Kellogg; five stepsons, Larry of Marshalltown, Jerry of San Jose, Calif., Gary of Laurel, Terry of Grinnell and Thomas of Highland, Calif.; one daughter, Lori Moorman of Melbourne; six step-grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard Simpson of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Lawrence Altemeier, who died in 1972.

Memorials in Mrs. Osland's name may be made to the Kellogg United Methodist Church and may be left at the church or the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
