Funeral services for Gene Richard Stevenson, 67, of Knoxville, who
died December 4, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held December 7,
1998, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Burial was at Graceland
Cemetery in Knoxville.

Pastor Martha Ward officiated the services. Music was provided
by Linda Gehling, pianist, and Karen Hollingshead, vocalist. Pallbearers were Marinus
Christensen, Willis Fiscus, Mike Goff, Rodney Jordan, Bob McRoberts, and John Petersen.
Honorary bearers were Darroll Bachman, Eugene Harvey, Cecil Harry, and Larry Petersen.

Gene was born August 28, 1931, in Knoxville, the son of Helen Finarty and Robert
Andrew Stevenson. He grew up in the Knoxville area and graduated from Knoxville
High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of sergeant
during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Helen Louise Brooks on September
12, 1954, in Knoxville. He was a farmer and a member of the Marion County Farm Bureau,
the Marion County Fair Board, and the Board of Directors of the Farmers Cooperative
in Knoxville. He was a 4-H leader for many years as well as an honorary FFA Chapter
Farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Lloyd and Lee.
He is survived by his wife of Knoxville; a daughter, Barbara Dykstra of Milo; a
son, Rick Stevenson of Knoxville; two brothers, C.W. (Worth) Stevenson of Knoxville,
and Grant Stevenson of Burlington; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made
to the First United Methodist Church Radio Fund, and the Marion County 4-H Clubs.
Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
