Frank Baty, 85, was born June 17, 1936, in Knoxville, Iowa, the sixth of ten children to Thomas Auten and Marie Frances Baty. He passed away on 11/25/2021.

Frank quit high school as a teen to help support his family. At the age of 18, on the advice of a teacher, he moved to California to get a civil service job with the state.

He was trained as a Psychiatric Technician, working in the wards of Napa State Hospital.

He then took a position as a part-time firefighter and lived at the Imola Fire House.

In October 1958, he enlisted in the Army and served as a Medical Airman in the 101st Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged 40 months later and came back to Napa State Hospital in February 1962.

He became a full-time firefighter and Special Deputy Sheriff for Napa County. He also served the Golden State Credit Union #7 as Secretary-Treasurer.

While at Napa State Hospital, he met and married Margaret (Peggy) Ann Baty (n. Blundell) in 1965. In the early 70s, Frank took a position as Fire Chief at Camarillo State Hospital, where Peggy worked the wards as a nurse.

Both retired in 1978 and moved to the home they had built in Ft. Bragg.

During their retirement they traveled a great deal, visiting all 50 States except North Dakota.

Frank was a lifetime member of Mensa, the 101st Airborne Association, CSFA, CA State Employee Association, and RPEA.

Frank was loved and cherished by many people including his parents, Thomas Auten and Marie Frances Baty; and his wife Margaret Ann Baty.
