Frances Irene (Mark) Ling, age 75, of Newton died on Feb. 10, 2006, at the Monarch Wing at Skiff
Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 13 at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Howard
Vranlcin. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville.

Frances was born to Jack and Miriam (Maddy) Mark on May 4, 1930, in Knoxville. She
graduated in 1947 from Knoxville High School. On April 2, 1977, she married Edward
M. Ling, Jr. in Knoxville. Frances lived in Knoxville until 1977, then she became
a resident of Newton.

She worked at the Continental Overall Factory in Knoxville, the Tenex Company in
Pleasantville, the Newton Laundromat and Careage of Newton. Frances was a member
of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, a member of the First Lutheran
Church in Newton, a member of Rebekas in Knoxville and a member of the Rock Hound
Club in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her
grandchildren and her dog Patches. Also, she liked collecting rocks and crafts.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Herbert Betterton
and two grandsons, Ronny Brewer and Ben Darr.

Survivors include her spouse, Edward M. Ling Jr. of Newton; a son Johnnie L. (Kathy)
Betterton of Chariton; three daughters, Wanda L. (Clifton) Brewer of Chariton, Joy
L. (Dwight) Vickroy of Knoxville and Linda L. (Leland) Shelton of Chariton; 14 grandchildren;
31 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild and a sister, Bonnie Findley
of Knoxville.

Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church.
