Funeral services for Fonda Grace (Monroe) Fawcett, who died Oct. 31, 1970 at University Hospitals in Iowa City, were held Nov. 3 from the Prairie City United Methodist Church with
Rev. Johnny Kain and Rev. Leonard Root
officiating.
Burial was in Zion Cemetery at Pershing.
Casketbearers were Max Kain, Gerartt Martinache, Marion Reins, Glen Smith, Kenneth Smith and Herbert Walker.
Mrs. W.R. Burns, organist accompanied Mrs.George Frank, soloist.
Flower committee was Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Findlow, Johnny Findlow and Connie Dykstra.
Fonda Grace Monroe was born July 15,1906 near Attica, the daughter of Ira M. & Cora Rowland Monroe, and was united in marriage to Thomas J. Fawcett on May 25, 1927.
She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1925 and taught in rural schools for 24 years and 14 years at Prairie City.
She received her bachelor of arts degree by attending night and summer school at Drake University.
She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and of the Iowa State Education Association.
In 1999 she was selected "Mother of the Year" at Prairie City,
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Morris, parents and brother, Ira.
Surviving are her husband, Tom, Sister, Mrs. Lester (Flossie) Rankin of Tracy, and two brothers, Elzy Monroe of Knoxville and Ray Monore of Des Moines.
