Memorial services for Fern Marie (Bishop) Lorimor, 92, of Knoxville, who died October 1, 1997, at the Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville, were held October 4, 1997, at Bybee
and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.

The body has been donated to the University
of Iowa Anatomy Department, and inurnment of cremains will be at a later date. The
Rev. Bob Ward officiated at the services. Music was provided by Jim Kidder, organist,
and Bob Morris, soloist.

Fern was born November 17, 1904, west of Knoxville, the
daughter of Abijah and Marietta Bivans Bishop.

She was raised in the Knoxville area,
and graduated in 1922. After high school, she took Normal Training, although she
did not become a teacher. She worked for a local photographer and then at JC Penney
in Ottumwa.

She was united in marriage to Lester Lorimor on January 7, 1943, in
Knoxville. The couple always made their home in the area, and she worked for seveal
local merchants through the years, including The People's Store, Brown's Shoe Fit,
and Baker Drug. She retired in 1982, and kept busy serving as a volunteer at the
hospital.

She was a member of the Marion County Historical Society, Daughters of
Union Veterans, the Knoxville Area Community Hospital Auxiliary, Love Circle, and
an 83-year member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Fairy Anderson. She
is survived by a cousin, LaVon Isley; two nephews, Larry Anderson of Attica, and
Richard Anderson of Tracy; and three nieces, Norma Jean Beal of Tracy, Constance
Beebe of Harvey, and Florence McDaniel of Yorba Linda, Calif.

Memorials may be made
to the Marion County Historical Society, and the Knoxville Area Community Hospital
Auxiliary.
