Services for Eula Elizabeth (Emerson) Hodgson, 75, Pleasantville, who died on Dec. 23, 1992, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, were on Dec. 26, at the Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville. Burial was at the Ruckman Cemetery.

The Rev. George Yetter officiated at the service. Music was provided by Mildred Brooks. Pallbearers were Doug Marz, Jim Hodgson, Mark Worthington, Chris Ladner, Gene Heaberlin, and Dennis Clark.

Eula was born on Oct. 14, 1917, the daughter of Otto and Anna Emerson. She graduated
from Knoxville High School in 1935 and taught in a country school for a number of
years.

On Dec. 20, 1941, she was married, to Earl Hodgson. Eula became a full partner on
the farm she and Earl shared. As a co-worker in the hard work of farm life, Eula
did chores, opened gates, and carried lunches to the field.

Eula was a member of
the Union Study Club, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and past county president
of the 4-H Clubs. Her hobbies included embroidery, sewing for her grandchildren, and reading books.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Emerson.

Survivors include her husband of Pleasantville; one daughter Judy of Solon; three
sisters, Helen Overton of Austin, Texas, Maxine Whitlatch and Norma Jeanne Cummings,
both of Knoxville; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasantville Rescue Unit.

The Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville was in charge of the arrangements.
