Services for Ethyle Caroline (Slykhuis) Mavin , 69, of Knoxville who died January 7, 1986 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines were held January 10 at the Williams Funeral Home.

Interment was at Graceland Cemetery.
The Rev. Kenneth MacLeod officiated the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry, organist and John Craword, vocalist.

Pallbearers were Denny Mavin, Dick Mavin, John Mavin, Tom Mavin, Roy Mavin, Jerry Bogaards and Gary Kendall.

Mrs. Mavin was born December 22, 1926 near Red Rock in Marion County to John G. and Nora Love Slykhuis.

She attended rural schools in and around the Knoxville area, graduating from the eighth grade.

On May 25, 1946 she married Robert H. Mavin at Knoxville. Four sons were born to this union. Ethyle was employed for almost 19 years at the VA Hospital in Knoxville with the canteen service, retiring due to poor health.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

She is survived by her husband Robert; four sons, Denny of Newton, Dick of Puyallup, Washington; John and Tom, both of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Alberta Sutton of Knoxville and Grace Worthington of Reasoner.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
