Elizabeth Rose (Scott) Neifert was born July 25, 1918 in Swan, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Marina “Minnie” (Johnson) Scott.

As a young woman, Elizabeth worked as an automatic hostess in Waukegan, Illinois. She had memorized three thousand records and customers would ask for the “Iowa Girl” to play their requests. On June 1, 1946 Elizabeth was united in marriage to Donald Amos Neifert in Unionville, Missouri.

The couple made their home in Knoxville. Elizabeth worked for Baker Drug and Harrison’s Variety. She later went to work for the Knoxville V.A. Hospital in Dietetics and retired from the housekeeping department in 1981.

Elizabeth loved the lord and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Elizabeth passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at West Ridge Nursing Center at the age of 98 years and 9 months.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; son-in-law, Gary Hollingshead and siblings: Maggie Furcht, Thomas, Hughie, Mary Neumann, Harry, Ethel Gardner, Anna French and George.

Those left to cherish Elizabeth’s memory include her daughters: Suzanne Hollingshead of Berthoud, Colorado and Sharon (John) Stittsworth of Knoxville; four grandchildren: Kevin Stittsworth, Betsy Haht, Kristen Bruening and Melisa DePaolo; four great-grandchildren: Chandler Bruening, Noah Bruening, Tanner O’Leary and Matthew Haht and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Neifert, age 98 years and 9 months of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Covenant Church. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 12:00 p.m. Monday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
