Services for Edith Winifred Kaster, 79, of Griffin Nursing Center, Knoxville, who
died March 14, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held March 18, 1995,
at First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.

Burial was at Graceland Cemetery
in Knoxville. The Rev. Robert Ward officiated at the services. Music was provided
by James Kidder, the organist. Pallbearers were Mark Smith, Rick Kaster, Doug Kaster,
Kerry Kaster, Patrick Smith, and Shayne Kaster. Honorary bearers were Steve Porter,
Ted Dykstra, William Larson, and Michael Larson.

Edith was born January 12, 1916,
in Marion County, the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth Sowden Porter. She spent her
entire life in Marion County and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1934. She
worked at the Griffin Nursing Center as a cook for 25 years. She was a member of
the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville.

She was united in marriage to Russell
Kaster in June of 1937, at Unionville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents;
her husband Russell; and her sister, Marjorie Larson. She is survived by a daughter,
Barbara Smith of Hendersonville, N.C.; three sons, Russell Kaster of Knoxville,
Richard Kaster of Des Moines and Robert Kaster of Marana, Ariz.; a brother, Ralph
Porter, and a sister, Doris Dykstra, both of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren, and six
great-grandchildren.
