Edith H. Hays, 85, of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday,
March 7, 2010, at West Ridge Nursing & Rehab. in Knoxville. Visitation will be held
on Friday, March 12, 2010, from 3-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. A Rebekah
service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home.

Funeral services will
be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010, and also at Williams Funeral Home
with Reverend Art Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in
Knoxville, Iowa.

Edith was born on December 19, 1924, in Chicago, IL; to Harry and
Lorraine (Jones) Patch. She grew up between Pleasantville and Knoxville and graduated
from Knoxville High School. She worked at the courthouse after high school for a
couple of years.

She then met and married Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Hays in December
19, 1948 at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. After their marriage,
she worked for the Marion County School Superintendent for several years. After
their daughter was born, she became a stay-at-home mother.

Edith was a member of
the First United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge of Indianola (formerly of Knoxville).

She enjoyed crocheting, mushroom hunting, and enjoyed traveling with her family,
going to all 50 states and even driving to Alaska.Edith Patch

Edith is survived by her daughter. Deborah Hays of Evanston, IL, sister-in-law, Dorothy Patch of Dubuque, IA, 7 nieces
and nephews, Dale & Karen Patch, Janet Adams, Nancy & Dan Bainter, John & Kathy
Patch, Teresa & Mike Bruno, Brian & Ellen Patch, and Jim & Mary Patch.
