Eddie Harry Wagner, 80, of Knoxville died of cancer Monday at Knoxville Area Community
Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, of which he was a member. Burial, with military rites, will be at Graceland Cemetery there.
Mr. Wagner was born in Corwith and had lived in Knoxville most of his life. He was a retired carrier with Knoxville Post Office, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Knoxville Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; two daughters, Debbie Clark of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and Cindy Pearson of Glendale, Ariz.; a brother, Kenny of Corwith; two sisters, Vonis Coverdell of Decatur, Ga., and Rita Hayes of Knoxville; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home in Knoxville, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made toward the World War II Memorial in Arlington, VA.
Funeral services for Harry Edward “Eddie” Wagner, 80, of Knoxville, who died of cancer, September 20. at the Knoxville Area, Community Hospital was held on September 23, 1999, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Military honors were accorded by Baty-Tucker Post #168, American Legion, and John Myers Post #3519, VFW.
The Rev. Martha Ward officiated at the services. Music was provided by Linda Gehling. organist. Pallbearers were Art Clark. Al Dorenkamp, Dan Fall. Rich Jellema. Lyle Pearson, and Kenny Wagner. Honorary bearers were Milton Johnson, Adrian Krupa. Earl Morgan, Paul Morgan. Dwight Somrnar, and Chuck Walter.
Eddie was born March 13, 1919, in Corwith, the son of Harry and Clara Guelck. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Knoxville. and he graduated from Knoxville High School in 1937. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II, serving in the U.S., England, and France.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Fall on September 23, 1942, in Unionville, Mo. The couple lived their entire married lives in Knoxville. He worked for his brother, Stubby, for several years at United Food Market in Knoxville. He was a letter carrier for the Postal Service in Knoxville from 1962 until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Knoxville Y’s Men’s Club, and a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of Knoxville; two daughters, Debbie Clark of Dhahran. Saudi Arabia, and Cindy Pearson of Glendale, Ariz.; a brother, Kenny Wagner of. Corwith; two sisters, Vonis 1 Coverdell of Decatur, Ga., and Rita Hayes of Knoxville; and three grandchildren.
