Douglas Evan Rowland, 38, was born on October 18, 1966, in Knoxville to Shirleen and Gail Rowland. He was the middle child of three sons.

Doug passed away on March 30, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, after a long battle with leukemia.

Rowland graduated from Knoxville High School in 1985. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

On Nov. 9, 1990, he married Kellie Jones.

He worked at Vermeer, owned Rowland Construction, and worked for Van Ryswyk Plumbing and Heating, retiring in September 2994 for health reasons.

Doug is survived by his wife; two daughters: Kaila and Abigail; a son, Tanner; his mother and stepfather,
Shirleen and Logan Light of Des Moines; his father, Gail Rowland of Knoxville;
two brothers: Bill and Michelle Rowland of Mason City and Larry and Tricia Rowland
of Monroe.

He is also survived by his grandmother, Myreeta Rowland of Knoxville, and his mother-in-law, Linda Jones of Des Moines.Doug Rowland

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Corky Evans and Lee Rowland. Funeral services will be held on April 2 at 1 p.m. at the Monroe First Baptist Church. Burial will take place at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be held this evening from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Monroe First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Doug Rowland Memorial Fund.
