Dorothy M. (Harvey) Riggen, 93, of Harvey, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the
Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday
March 9, 2010, from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 5-8 p.m. at Williams Funeral
Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, also
at Williams Funeral Home with Chris St. Clair & Shawn Bennett co-officiating. Burial
will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa. Online condolences may be

Dorothy was born on October 7, 1916, to John
& Ethel (Rankin) Harvey at home near Harvey, IA. She attended various schools in
Marion County and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1933.
Dorothy married
Charles “Dick” Riggen Jr. on December 22, 1934 in Tracy, IA. The couple lived in
Harvey where she worked part-time as a postal clerk for 20 years. She loved her
family, cooking, baking, and her flowers in the house and outdoors. The couple loved
nature in general and especially birds (Cardinals). Dorothy was a member of the
Harvey United Methodist Church and Methodist Women.
She is survived by her daughters,
Donna Bennett of Harvey, IA, and Sally Snyder and husband Jim of Carlisle, IA; 11
grandchildren and their children, Anita & Frank Schumacher and their children (Crystal
& Jason Armstrong, Kim, and Ben Loss); Larry and Lisa Bennett and their children,
(Preston, Spencer, and Kayla); Shawn and Lynda Bennett and their children, (Sidney,
Ty, and Keaton); Joel and Kristi Bennett and their children, (Katie and Sara); Dawn
and Tim Van Haaften and their child, (Sid); Dana and Josh Bandstra and their child,
(Charlie); Anna and Brian Brennan and their children, (Ben, Peter, and Ellen); Scott
and Amy Snyder and their children, (Alex, Daniel, and Grace); April and Chris St. Clair and their children, (Jesse, Seamus, and Maddy), Mathew and Canada Snyder and
their children (Kate and Riggen); and David and Danielle Snyder and their child,
(Thomas), sister-in-law, Lois Harvey of Martinsdale, IA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law
Pat and Maxine Riggen of Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
Dick, and their infant son, Charles Arthur “Dickie” Riggen.
