Doris Ann (Stevens) Rowley, age 77, of Pella, Iowa, (formerly of Knoxville), passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family on Monday, June 6, 2022.

Doris was born on January 7, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Pauline (Parrish) Stevens. Doris grew up in numerous towns before her family moved to Knoxville. She attended Knoxville High School and graduated with the Class of 1964.

Following high school, Doris’ first job was with Bellamy Telephone as a phone operator, and she worked there for several years.

Doris was united in marriage to Roger Rowley, and they were blessed with four children, Tiffany, Toni, Tascha, and Benjamin. Their union ended in 1981.

Doris later worked at 3M and took early retirement in 1995. She became a nanny on the East Coast and worked with several families until she found her last and longest employer.
Doris was blessed to travel and made many dear friends in Virginia.

Doris loved to travel to see her cousins in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She enjoyed sewing quilts, crocheting, reading, and playing cards with her friends. Doris was always generous with her time volunteering with many organizations, including Mercy NICU in Des Moines, the Grand Theater in Knoxville, and United Way. Doris’ greatest love was her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed by them all.

Doris’ wishes were to be cremated. A gathering will take place with Doris’ family present to greet friends and relatives on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Celebrate Community Church in Knoxville from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. A private family burial will take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
