Doris Elaine (Maddy) Shawver, a daughter of Herman and Helen Ethel (Rankin) Maddy, was born on April 28, 1929 in Marion County, Iowa. She attended schools in Marion County and graduated from Knoxville High School in Knoxville, Iowa.
Doris was united in marriage with Dean Chester Shawver on June 1, 1947, and to this union two children were born: Diane Ruth and David Dean.
Doris and Dean moved to their home on a farm south of Knoxville in 1950 where they were living when Dean passed away in December, 2001.
Doris continued to live on the farm that she had lived on for over 50 years until she moved to her home in Knoxville.
Doris was a 4-H leader for many years and belonged to the Progressive Garden Club and Farm Bureau Women for over 50 years. In 2017 she became a resident at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville where she resided until her death on April 6, 2019, at the age of 89 years.
Doris was a member of the Attica United Methodist Church in Attica, Iowa where she had been an active member of the United Methodist Women.
Her family left to mourn her passing are her two children and their spouses and their families. They are:

She is also survived by her sister, Joyce and her husband, Mick Russell of Cape Coral, Florida.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Shawver; a grandson-in-law, Terry Newman; her parents, Herman and Helen Maddy; her two brothers and their wives: Keith and Colleen Maddy, Paul and Joyce E. Maddy; and her parents-in-law, Chester and Hazel Shawver.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville, Iowa.
Visitation and lunch with the family will follow the service on Wednesday at Church of the Nazarene.
Memorial contributions are suggested for the United Methodist Women at Attica, Iowa.
