Doris Bertine (Jordan) Bingham /Orr was born May 20, 1922, in El Dorado, Iowa the daughter of Albert P. and Grace L. (Eddleman) Jordan.
She was raised in the Columbia, Iowa area and graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1940.
Doris married Vear Bingham and they had a son, Bob. The couple later divorced.
Doris was working at the Swift Hotel when she met the love of her life, Vincent B. Orr. The couple was married in 1954 and to this union a daughter, Jan was born. Doris and Vincent always made their home in Knoxville.
Doris was a lady of great faith, she was a devout member of Community of Christ Church and enjoyed Tuesday morning coffee with the church group. She wanted everything neat and orderly and enjoyed cleaning the church, her home, and her car.
Doris was a terrific cook and homemade bread was one of her specialties. She was known as “the rose lady” and had given many presentations on the proper care and pruning of roses. Doris and Vince loved giving gifts at Christmas to their grandkid’s delight. The most important part of Doris’ life was her family and she cherished and nurtured each and every one of them.
Doris passed away passed Saturday, June 22, 2019, at her home at the age of 97 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vince, and very dear cousin, Dorothy Witt.
Those left to cherish Doris’ memory include her son Bobby (MaryLou) Bingham of Knoxville, daughter, Jan (Peter) Keller of Ackworth; grandchildren: Jamie (Megan) Miller, Christina (Duane) Bartlett, David (Terri) Bingham, Julia (Tim) Fenoglio, Ben (Michelle) Bingham and Victoria (Dave) Holdsworth; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special cousins, Rosemary and Sue Witt and a host of other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service for Doris Orr, age 97 of Knoxville, will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the Community of Christ Church at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
