Donald VandenBerg was born June 28, 1922, to John and Lois (Augustine) VandenBerg in rural Marion County.

Don was united in marriage to Dorothy Cummings at the Little Brown Church on May 19, 1946, in Nashua.

He worked at the Community National Bank in Knoxville for over 40 years, starting out as a teller and retiring as Senior Loan Officer.

Don also was very active in the First United Methodist Church, serving on many committees. He enjoyed spending time in his yard gardening. Woodworking and reading were also my favorite past times.

Over the years he and Dorothy traveled throughout the world, with trips to China and Australia.

Don passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy; children, Ron (Susan) Donald VandenburgVandenBerg of Davenport, Sheryl (Earle ” Chip”) Bellamy of Golden, Colo.; grandchildren, Jessica and Kelsey VandenBerg of Davenport, Caroline Bellamy of San Francisco, Calif., Courtney Bellamy of Denver, Colo.; sister, Velma Murr of Columbia, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A Funeral Service was held at First United Methodist Church in Knoxville Friday, May 16, with Rev. Neil Montz officiating. The interment was in Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville.
