Donald Vernes Green Jr. was born October 17, 1951, in Knoxville, Iowa to Donald and Yvonne (Descamp) Green.
He grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville high school in the class of 1969.
Don married the love of his life, Sharon Sibert in July of 1970, they were later blessed with three beautiful daughters: Candice, Valarie, and Nicole, and three grandchildren.
Don dedicated much of his working life to Maytag, where he was employed in assembly and manufacturing for 32 years before retiring.
He took pride in hard work and reliability, these are values he carried with him in every season of life.
Outside of work, Don found joy in the simple pleasures: fishing, spending time at flea markets, and expanding his collection of guns, a hobby he enjoyed both for the craftsmanship and the camaraderie it brought. He was an active member of the Marion County Gun Club and the Marion County Republican Committee, places where he enjoyed conversation, connection, and community.
Known for his playful sense of humor, Don was a natural jokester who loved “harassing people” in the most lighthearted, good-natured way. He was easy to visit with, quick to laugh, and made those around him feel welcome. Beneath his fun-loving spirit was a deeply kind heart and a strong faith.
Don loved sharing the good word of Jesus and faithfully attended Solid Rock Church in Monroe, where his faith guided how he lived.
Don is survived by his daughters: Candice (Scott) Wilson, Valarie (John) Kuiper, and Nicole (Mike) Lage; grandchildren: Tianna, Calvin, Sara, Carter, Michael, and Chloe; sisters: Theresa Risely and Tracey Green; along with many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon in 2021; and parents: Don Sr. and Yvonne Green.
