Services for Philip Dean Crosby, 58, of Pella, who died April 4, 1986 at his home, were held April 8 at Trinity Reformed Church in Pella. VanDyk-Duven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in Gosport Cemetery, Columbia, Rev. Donald Plantinga officiated at the services. Music was provided by Mrs. Leroy A. VanZee, organist, and Lee VandeVoort, soloist.
Pallbearers were Larry, Michael, Paul and Craig Crosby, Greg Knowles and Steve Maddison.
Mr. Crosby was born April 20, 1927 near Columbia, the son of Oliver Boyd and Margie Shives Crosby.
He was a 1945 graduate of Knoxville High School, attended Central College in Pella, and served with the Army
during World II.
Following discharge, he graduated, from the University of Illionis with a degree in radio journalism and did composition advertising for radio stations in Texas, Michigan and Alaska. He later was employed by Rolscreen
until his retirement in 1981 and at the time of his death was employed by Pella Municipal Light Plant.
He was a member of Trinity Reformed Church and had published several anthologies. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Shirley in infancy, and Virginia; and one brother, Richard.
He is survived by two brothers, Wilbur of Fremont and Robert of Knoxville; three sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Margaret) Reay of Wayzata, Minn, Mrs. Melvin (Laura) Knowles of Knoxville and Dorothy Poor of St. Louis, Mo. sister-in-law Bernice Crosby of MN.
and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established to the Iowa public Broadcasting Network.
