05/08/2021David Louwsma
David Paul Louwsma, the son of William George and Virginia Ruth (Burdick) Louwsma, was born February 2, 1954, at Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa.

At the age of 67 years, on May 8, 2021, David passed away at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Dave retired from Van Gorp Corporation in Pella, Iowa in 2018, after a career there as a welder (and had many arm scars to prove it.) After retirement, he left his home in Eddyville, Iowa to care for his father in his Knoxville home; he stayed there until his father’s passing in February 2019. After leaving Knoxville, he made his home in Oskaloosa, until his diabetes and declining health made it necessary for him to spend his final year at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa.

David was preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as his sister, Donna Lea Baker.

Dave will be fondly remembered for his ornery ways, his teasing, and his guitar-picking and classic country singing (Dave absolutely loved having jam sessions with his friends).David Louwsma

His kindness and generosity to those in need around him was a big part of who he was. He was a beloved member of the Park Church of Christ in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 23 at Greenwood Cemetery, north of Knoxville, Iowa. As was David’s wish, his body had been cremated.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Park Church of Christ in Oskaloosa. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with his arrangements.
