David Lee Deeringer, 52, of Chariton died of pulmonary fibrosis Saturday April 25, 1998, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville.

Mr. Deeringer, born in Knoxville the son of Chester Deeringer (d.1992) and Ernestine (Walter) Deeringer, was an Air Force veteran, worked a ware-houseman with Midland Manufacturing in Monroe and was a member of Chariton American Legion and First Lutheran Church in Chariton.

He was united in marriage, on August 7, 1970, to Geraldine Kay Stephens (b.1952-d.2013).

Surviving are his wife, Geri; two sons, Dave Jr. of Grundy Center and Bill of St. Louise; two brothers, Earl Comstock of Chariton and James Deeringer of Des Moines; three sisters, Katie Snow of Knoxville, Sandra Welsh of Lovilia and Lydia Rose Randolph of Tacoma, Wash; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic fibrosis foundation.
