David Dean Morgan was born June 28, 1960 in Lincoln, Nebraska the son of Jerry Dean Morgan and Lois Estella (Harvey) Morgan.
As a young man, Dave lived in several different locations, as his father was in the Air Force. The family lived in California, Arkansas and Anchorage, Alaska. He moved to Knoxville in the 7th grade. Dave graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1979. He attended Indian Hills Community College where he earned an Associate’s Degree.
On June 9, 1990, Dave was united in marriage to Lori Betterton. The couple have always made Knoxville their home.
He spent most of his working career maintaining and repairing computerized automated machinery. Dave had worked for Linotype, Heidelberg and was currently working for CES.
In his spare time, Dave liked woodworking, blacksmithing, photography and watching the Three Stooges. He also enjoyed the architecture of lighthouses and log cabins.
Dave was a traveler, he had explored all fifty states and traveled to many places around the world. His favorite holiday was Christmas and he never missed the opportunity to deliver cookie trays to friends and family.
Family and friends were Dave’s greatest joy in life and he cherished the time he spent with them.
Dave passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Regional Health Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota at the age of 58 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dan.
Those left to honor Dave’s memory include his wife, Lori; children: Samantha and Rachel; sister, Kim Morgan; aunts and uncles: Steve and Linda Fox, Dan and Connie Harvey, Bill and Louise Cooprider, Lyle Harvey, Sandra Harvey, and Shirley Morgan; father-in-law, Joe Betterton; brother-in-law, Joel (and Janet) Betterton; sister-in-law, Cathy Courtney; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and countless family members and friends.
A funeral service for Dave Morgan, age 58 of Knoxville, will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in the Bellefountaine Cemetery in Tracy, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marion County 4-H or to the Puppy Jake Foundation (service dogs for disabled veterans).
