Services for Darrell Gordon Werts, 38, of Ankeny, who died March 1, 1986, at University Hospitals in Iowa City, were held March 4 at EvansMcCleery Funeral Home.
The interment was in Lincoln Cemetery, Marion County. Rev. K. Wayne Hoehns officiated at the services. Music was provided by Merrill Womach. Pallbearers were Roger and Ray Todd, Kris DeBont, Russell Jones, Jose Benki, and John McCullough.
Mr. Werts was born on Jan. 2, 1948, in Chariton, the son of George and Doris Bennett Werts. After graduating from Knoxville High School in 1966, he graduated from Area XI Community College in 1969 and from Drake University in 1978 with a B.S.B. A. degree in business.
On June 13, 1970, in Knoxville, he married Diana Lea Jordan. He was employed by White Truck Company for several years as an accountant and for the past six years had operated his own business at the Wallace State Office Building in Des Moines as a food service manager.
He is survived by his wife; his parents of Knoxville; one sister, Mrs. Jose (Kay) Benki of Perry; two nephews, Kris DeBont and Mason Benki, and one niece, Kelli DeBont, all of Perry.
