A Mass of Christian Burial Darrell Franklin DeJoode, 58, Knoxville, who died February 10, 2000 were held February 14 at St Anthony‘s Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Spring officiated at the service. Music was provided by the St, Anthony Choir and organist Jim Kidder. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery. Casketbearers were Dan Shaw, Larry Stangl, Larry Lovewell, Richard Crozier, Dick Arnold, Robert DeJoode, Howard Cowman, and Matthew Metzgar.
Darrell was born August 5, 1941 in Knoxville, the son of Anthony DeJoode and Mary (Krashowetz) DeJoode. He was raised in Knoxville graduated with the Class of 1959.
Following high school, he was employed at Oscar Mayer in Davenport while attending St. Ambrose College
On May 30, 1964 Darrell was united in marriage to Raydene Moss at Ste. Anthony's Catholic Church in Knoxville. He graduated from St. Ambrose in 1968 as an industrial engineer.
After graduation, he worked in Davenport with Oscar Mayer for 17 years. Then the couple moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin where Darrell worked for Schrieber Foods.
He also worked for Hygrade Foods in Brighton, Michigan before moving to Hayward, Wisconsin in 1994 and fulfilling his dream of owning a fishing resort. He and Raydene own and operate the R & R Bayview Resort on the Chippewa Flowage with their son and daughter-in-law.
Darrell was always very active in the Boy Scouts of America as a young man, and as a Scout master; when he was an adult.
When he lived in Michigan he was Captain of the Ushers at St. Patrick’s. He also enjoyed the peaceful beauty of nature at his resort.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hayward, the Knight of Columbus (4th Degree); and was a delegate to the Alliance for Muskie and Snow Club, and on the board of the a Hayward Lake Resort Association. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents. Edna and Frank Krashowetz, and paternal grandparents, Gertrude and William DeJoode.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Raydene; son Anthony Hayward; daughter, Terri (DeJoode) Miller, Trevor, Wisconsin; parents, Tony and Mary DeJoode of Knoxville; two sisters; Rosemary DeJoode, Tama; and Marlene Metzgar, Bettendorf, granddaughter Mahala; and grandson, Seth.
Arrangements were made by Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Altar and Rosary Society or to Adopt a Fish Crib on the Chippewa Flowage.
