Masonic funeral services for Dale Wayne Voyce, 75, of Ames and formerly of Knoxville,
who died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Homeward Hospice of the Israel Family Hospice House
in Ames, were held Wednesday, May 7, at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Oriental Masonic Lodge #61 officiated at the services. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Honorary casket bearers were Mick Myers, Jim Russell, Chuck Young, Paul Dendy, Roger Lamp, David Young, Tom Voyce, Andy Lamp, Mac Eagon Voyce, Gene Voyce, Joe Eberline, Bob Curry, Jim Mitchell, Michael C. Jones, Isaac Russell, Jacob Russell, Sam Russell, Joel Russell, Dallas Voyce, Chris Eberline, Sean Dendy,
and Eric Dendy.
Dale was born on April 27, 1928, in Oskaloosa, the son of Charles and Ethel (Farrin) Voyce. The family moved to Knoxville in 1930 and Dale graduated from Knoxville High School in 1946. He attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon and Black Hills State Teacher’s College in Spearfish, S.D.
He married Betty Jean Blomen on March 29, 1948, in Deerwood, Minn. They lived in Knoxville for most of their
married lives.
Dale retired in 1978 after 27 years as a delivery man for Roberts Dairy in Des Moines. He later managed Nemo’s Subs in Knoxville. They moved to Ames last year. Dale was an avid sports fan and loved his golf.
He was a 54-year member of Oriental Masonic Lodge #61 in Knoxville serving as two times Master.
He was also a 27-year member of Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Donald in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Betty
of Ames; two sons and their wives, Jon and Deb of Reno, Nev., and Mark and Melissa
of Brownsdale, Minn.; five daughters and their husbands, Stef and Chuck Young of
Ames, Leslie and Joe Eberline of Clermont, Fla.; Dawn and Paul Dendy of Vancouver,
Wash., Kim and Jim Russell of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Kerry and Roger Lamp of Ames; two brothers and their wives, Charles and Chris of Santa Maria, Calif., and Tom and
Betty of Iowa City; a sister and her husband, Billie Curry and Robert, Sr. of Fullerton,
Calif.; 23 grandchildren. and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Homeward Hospice at the Arrangements were made Israel Family Hospice House by Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
