Funeral services for Dale Edward Fleeman, 41, Columbia, who died September 11, 1994,
while fishing in a Bass Tournament at Lake Red Rock, were September 15, at the Williams
Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Burial was at Columbia Cemetery in Columbia. Pastor Tom
Kirkman officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry and Jim
Kidder. Pallbearers were Dave Beebout, Steve Hall, Joe McCurdy, John Pierce, Jeff
Beebout, Mike Kingrey, Dennis Myers, and Neil Rankin. Honorary pallbearers were Bob
Andrews, Harold Giesman and Brad Lane.
Dale was born on April 23, 1953, the son
of Clayton Fredrick Fleeman and Helen Louise Hamilton in Chariton. Dale graduated
from Knoxville High School in the Class of 1971. He soon began working at Rolscreen
(Pella Corporation) in Pella and was employed in the shipping department at the
time of his death. He was a hardworking employee for more than 22 years.
Dale also served in the Iowa National Guard. On May 20, 1977, he was united in marriage
to Coral Lynn Fisher at the First United Methodist Church in Chariton. The marriage
was blessed with one daughter, Lacy. The family lived in Columbia. Dale was a fisherman.
He loved to fish, in farm ponds, in lakes, in the river, anywhere the fishing was
good you could find Dale.
He was a member of the South Central Iowa Bass Club and
also the Bass, Anglers, Sportsman Society (BASS). He enjoyed taking his daughter
fishing, hoping she would inherit his love for the sport.
Dale was also a member
of the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department. The hours and training involved in being
a volunteer fireman speak highly of the type of man he was. Coral, Lacy, and Dale
attended the Living Word Fellowship Church in Knoxville. He was a Christian man.
Dale loved all of his family and was a kind, caring, and loving man.
Survivors
include his wife of Columbia; his daughter Lacy of Columbia; his parents of Columbia
and his mother and father-in-law Peg and Jay Fisher of Chariton. Memorials may be
made to the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department in Columbia.
The Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville was in charge of the arrangements.
