Funeral services for Dale Dearinger, 67, of Knoxville, who died Friday, July 12, 2002 in Knoxville, were held Tuesday, July 16, at Williams Funeral Home.

Pastor Edythe Hill officiated at the services. Music was provided by Wayne Westberg, vocalist, accompanied by Janet Westberg, organist. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Casketbearers were Chad Eilers, Robert Evans, Jerry Mart, Jerry Mecham, Robert Miller, Bill Schlotterback, Ernie Wilfong and Bill Vander Ecken. Honorary bearers were Emily, Isaac and Theo Miller.

Dale was born on June 1, 1935 in Bussey. He was the son of Mary Jane “Febia” Bingham and George Dearinger. He graduated with Class of 1954 in  Knoxville High School. He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard.

He married Joann Kay Brown on June 12, 1968 in Malcom. To this union two daughters were born.
He was employed at Hormel in Knoxville for 18 1/2 years before retiring in 1996.
Dale always loved farming. He raised grain and various livestock. In addition to the hogs and cattle, Dale and Joann also raised horses, ducks and rabbits.

Dale and Joann enjoyed camping and walking. He liked to feed the birds, squirrels and other wildlife. He frequently took his daughters to horse shows. The grandchildren became very special to him and he took great joy in going shopping when they came for a visit. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beulah Presley and June Beaver.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Dearinger of Knoxville; two daughters, Deborah and her husband, Robert Miller, and Linda Dearinger and her fiancé, Chad Eilers, all of Des Moines; a sister, Sarah. Mecham of Knoxville; and three grandchildren, Theo, Emily and Isaac Miller of Des Moines.

Memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society.
