Cynthia (Thompson) Allen, 62, of Glen Allen, Virginia, died suddenly on December 2, 2010 in her sleep.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Thompson and
Esther Rennels Thompson, and daughter, Dominique Allen Hudert.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Lanier Allen, son Lee, and daughters Lori Allen Serell and
Michelle Allen Arduini. Grandchildren Sean, Ryan Serell, Josh, and Alex Arduini and
her brother, Michael Rennels Thompson, his wife, Jane of Cincinnati, Ohio, and their
daughters Gillian and Jennifer.
Mrs. Allen had trained as an ORT at the Medical College
of Virginia, and subsequently was put in charge of supervising the Cardiac Research
Laboratory, where she trained hundreds of surgical residents in cardiac surgery
techniques until her retirement.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Society.
