Services for Charles Corwin Sage, 68. Columbia, who died on Sept. 5, 1993, at Knoxville
Area Community Hospital in Knoxville, was Sept. 8, 1993, at the Williams Funeral
Home Knoxville. Burial was at the Gosport Cemetery in Marion County. The Rev. Lynn
B. Elrod officiated the service.
Music was provided by James Kidder and Caroline
Irving. Pallbearers were Gordon Clark, Ed Sage, Dale Storm, Scott Clark, Roger Sage,
Donnie Storm and Lloyd Storm. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Carruthers, Jerry
Carruthers, Quentin Carruthers, Garth Carruthers, Neil Carruthers, Willis Garsin
, and Louis Pearson.
Corwin was born on Sept. 10, 1924, in Columbia, the son of Charles
William and Bessie B. Agan Sage.
On Feb. 14, 1947, he was married to Margaret Ann
Clark in Dallas, Iowa. The couple lived in the Columbia community for most of their
life. Corwin lived and farmed at the place where he was born for most of his life.
He also worked at Morrell in Ottumwa and worked as a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. Survivors include his seven sons,
Charles Sage, Dennis Sage, Michael Sage, Richard Sage, Steven Sage, all of Knoxville
and Gary Sage and Dean Sage, both of Columbia; four daughters, Marilyn Des Camps
and Patricia Sage, both of Knoxville, and Barbara Beaty and Linda Clark, both of
Columbia; two brothers, Warnie of Littleton, Colo. and Truman of Knoxville; one
sister, Wilma of Knoxville; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials
may be made to the Washington Township Fire Department or the Hospice of Central
Iowa.
