Alice Colleen (Drake) Whitlatch, 78, of Newton was born September 21, 1930, and died on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at her home in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the New Life Community Church of the Nazarene, officiated by the Rev. Lauris Meek. The family will greet friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
She was united in marriage to Alvin V. Whitlatch On July 3, 1948.
They lived in Knoxville and Des Moines before making their home in Newton.
She was an active member of the New Life Nazarene Church.
Memorials to the New Life Community Church of the Nazarene or to the donor’s choice may be left at the church on the morning of the service or at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin of Newton; two sons, Alan (Wilma) Whitlatch of Simpsonville, S.C., and David (Alice) Whitlatch of Newton; daughter, Cyndi Best of Rockford, Ill.; her seven grandchildren, Laura (Joe) Haney, Jennifer (Brad) Moore, Teresa (Brett) Prior, Krystin Best, Amy (Tom) Foraker, Cari (Ben) Solberg and Jeremy Whitlatch; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Don Drake, in 2008.
