Clifford A. Zeck, 81, Knoxville, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at the V.A. Hospital,
Knoxville.
The Revs. Charles Zeck and Charles Rutter officiated the services. Musical
selections were provided by Ann Millison; the Rev. Charles Zeck, saxophone; Andrew
Veisbrod; and Sister Janice Rutter, pianist.
Casket bearers were Curtis Zeck, Chad
Zeck, Andrew VVeisbrod, Dave Van Vark, Gerald Ball and Ralph Zeck. Honorary casket
bearers were the Revs. Robert Blackman, Robert Johnson, Donald Baker, John Allard,
Wayne Butcher and Charles Rutter.
Burial was at Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, with
military honors provided by the U.S. Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars John Myers Post
3519 and American Legion Baty-Tucker 168. The Rev. John Allard officiated services
at the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Bybee & Davis Funeral
home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Zeck was born June 14, 1923, in Pocahontas,
the son of Ray Allen Zeck and Faye Veach Zeck
(b.Jan 4,1886-d.June 11, 1955).
He married Olive June Sterling on June 24,
1943, in Knoxville. He was raised in Knoxville and attended school there. In October
of 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served for more than two years before
his honorable discharge in January 1946. He returned home to his wife and they resided
in Knoxville.
He worked for Zeck Brothers for most of his life, operating a bulldozer and scraper. He attended the Apostolic Church, Knoxville, and First United Pentecostal
Church, Muscatine.
He was active in both churches and loved to sing hymns. He also enjoyed games, music, jokes, and keeping his cars immaculately waxed and cleaned.
His greatest joy was his family; he loved spending time with his wife, son, and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles Zeck of Muscatine; Three grandchildren; seven great-children; a brother, Ralph Zeck and wife Carolyn of Dallas; and a sister-in-law.
