Services for Clayton Fredrick Fleeman will be Friday, January 6, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Columbia Cemetery.

Clayton F. Fleeman passed away peacefully, Monday evening, January 2, 2017, at the Westridge Nursing Home in Knoxville. Clayton was born March 16, 1930, to William and Stella Fleeman. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1948 and was married to Helen Hamilton of Chariton on March 18, 1952. They were blessed with a son, Dale Edward Fleeman.

Clayton was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and was the Fire Chief in Columbia for a number of years, a position he took much pride in serving. He was a sergeant in the National Guard out of Knoxville. He worked at the Firestone Store in Knoxville for approximately 10 years. Then at Rolscreen, now Pella Corp for 20 years, and at McCorkle Hardware for 17 years.

Helen and Clayton enjoyed square dancing and traveled around the area as a caller for many years. Clayton was very social and enjoyed being around people. He enjoyed joking around and was quick with a smile. Many will remember he always asked, “Hey you got a minute? I’ve got something to tell you.”

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Dale; his wife, Helen; and his brother, Franklin.Clayton Fleeman

Surviving is his granddaughter, Lacy Garcia, and her husband, Cristian; great-grandson, Christian Dale Garcia; along with his half brother, LeRoy and Velta Patterson of Oklahoma; his nieces and nephews; and Mary Ellis, a very special friend; and many friends.
