Chester P. Stentz, 77, a Las Vegas resident for the past 14 and one-half years, passed away in the Las Vegas Hospital early Sunday morning Febuary 2, 1975, from an apparent heart condition. He had been hospitalized for the past six days prior to his death.
Stentz was born at Knoxville, Iowa, on Oct. 26, 1897, and was the son of the late Phillip and Mary Elizabeth Eiehard Stentz, who preceeded him in death many years ago.
He was united in marriage to Anna Mae Wolf on July 7, 1934, at Socorro, who survives him, and resides in the family home at 1900 North Seventh Street.
Stentz was an executive in the meat packing industry for many years. His last business association was with the John Morrell Meat Packing Company at Amarillo, Tex. as an executive from 1949 to 1960, at which time he retired from active business and moves to Las Vegas to make his home.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Anna Mae, he is survived by three sisters; Mrs. C. C. Irvin of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Boyd E. Ruby of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Ned Ashton of Knoxville, Iowa. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family has announced that flowers have not been omitted, however, memorials may be made to the San Miguel County. Heart Association, Gary Lawrence, Bank of Las Vegas, P.O. Box 2707, Las Vegas, or, to their favorite charity, in his memory.
Funeral services have been scheduled to be held at the Rogers Mortuary Chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Dr. J. Weldon Butler, district superintendent of the First United Methodist Churches, of Amarillo, officiating at the services. Interment will be made in the. family plot at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Those named as honorary pallbearers are Dr. J. J. Johnson Jr., Milton Taichert, Gary Lawrence, Dr. John S. Johnson, Merle Crutchfield, Ivan Hilton, Gus Schwede and henry Blattman.
Stentz Will lie in state in the slumber room at the Rogers Mortuary today and tomorrow, and until time of funeral services on Wednesday where friends are invited to call.
Friends may call on the family at 1900 Seventh Street.
