Charles “Chuck” Wooldridge, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on September 19, 2018 at the Comfort House in Pella.
Charles Allen Wooldridge was born November 5, 1935 in Marion County Iowa. He was the 9th of 16 children to Dale and Verda (Davis) Wooldridge.

He attended school in Knoxville, Iowa. Charles started his working career at a young age in construction. He served in the United States Army from 1958-1960 and was stationed in Korea.

Charles married Loretta Ann Stubbs in 1959 and they raised four children together, Dennis, Michael, Lori and Melody. He was a very hardworking man and usually maintained a part-time job in addition to his full-time career. In addition to serving his country,

Charles became a Knoxville police officer in November of 1962 and served his community for 32 years. His life of public service was continued after retiring from the police force through a second career in housing maintenance for Housing & Urban Development.

He served as a board member for Red Rock Community Action Center. He also volunteered for Helping Hands as a food bank truck driver.

Charles had a great sense of humor and didn’t know a stranger. His hobbies and interests included fishing, hunting, hobby farming, and tinkering with whatever struck his fancy. His greatest joys came from his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville, Iowa from 3:30 P.M.-7:30 P.M. His family will be present from 5:30 P.M.-7:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Celebrate Community Church in Knoxville at 11:00 A.M.

Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. After burial services, a luncheon will be held at Celebrate Community Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters; Lori (Rodney) Derringer of Pleasant Hill, and Melody Wooldridge of Knoxville; one son, Dennis (Nancy) Toll of Hudson, WI; daughter-in-law, Ruth Wooldridge, widow of the late Michael Wooldridge; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Popeye (Danny) Wooldridge and Jack Wooldridge; one sister, Mary Pregon, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.

He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Wooldridge; parents, Dale and Verda Wooldridge, and twelve siblings.
