Charles T. Presley, 83, of Ames, passed away May 17, 2013, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 14th at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Inurnment will be at a later date in Indiana Chapel Cemetery located south of Attica, Iowa.
Charles Thomas Presley was born March 17, 1930, to Dane Alexander and Marie Therese (Landry) Presley in Marion County, Iowa. He was educated in Marion County schools and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954.
Charles married Joanne Marie Cooley on October 7, 1955, in Knoxville, Iowa. He worked as a tester for Sundstrand from 1973 until retiring in 1990. He then worked as a seasonal employee for the City of Ames from 1991 to 2010.
Charles was a member of American Legion Post #37 in Ames and enjoyed camping, feeding birds, and socializing with his friends.
Charles is survived by his wife, Joanne of Ames; his son, Dan (Julie) Presley of Nevada; his sister, Doris (J.R.) Cline of Pleasantville; his brother, Robert (Barbara) Presley of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Edward Presley, and Dane A. Presley; and one sister, Lilly Robinson.
