Brinda Joy (Stoops) Whitlatch was born July 7, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the only child of Thomas “Marion”
Stoops and Goldie Marie (Kreimeyer) Stoops.
Brinda was raised in Knoxville, Iowa, where she attended the First Presbyterian Church and graduated from Knoxville High School in the class of 1965.
Brinda and Robert Carl Whitlatch were united in marriage on July 24, 1965, and were blessed with two children.
Brinda attended beauty school and upon graduation worked in the beauty shop her mother operated “Gold’s Beauty Shop” prior to dedicating herself to raising her family.
Brinda passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics at the age of 74 years, 6 months, and 22 days.
Brinda was preceded in death by her parents. Brinda is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Timothy) Spriggs, and her son, Kevin Whitlatch, all of Knoxville, Iowa as well as her grandson, Calvin Whitlatch of Waukee, Iowa.
Private family graveside services and interment of cremains will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Flag Fund PO Box 220 Knoxville, IA 50138 for the
replacement of the flags used for the Avenue of Flags at Graceland Cemetery.
