Graveside services for Brian Troy Thomas, 38, of Onawa, formerly of Knoxville, who
died on Monday, November 19, 2001, near Atlantic, were held on Friday, Novemer 23,
at Greenwood Cemetery.
Pastor Merlin Nelson officiated at the services. Barbara
Marvelli as vocalist. Casketbearers were Bruce Ash, Richard Bums, Les Edwards Michael
Joe Gardner Sr., Danny Komarek and Inismet Thomas. Memorial services were held at
Eastwood Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines later that day.
Brian was born July
2, 1963 in Knoxville. He was the son of Margaret Kathleen Derringer and Florent
LeRoy Thomas. He attended school in Knoxville for several years and graduated from
Carlisle High School in 1982.
Brian had a love of the outdoors. He spent a great
deal of time fishing, hunting and camping. He collected hot wheels and statues of
eagles. He also liked “fast” cars.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy
Gardner, and two grandfathers, Jipe Derringer and Jack Thomas. He is survived by
his wife, Carole; two sons, Corey Thomas and Curtis Price of Branson, Mo.; his parents;
a brother, Inismet Thomas of Des Moines; two sisters, Trudy Cohen of Newton and
Cathy Komarek and her husband, Danny, of Onawa; two grandmothers, Blanche Parker
of Mercer, Mo. and Lena Thomas of Knoxville as well as other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to his family. Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral
Home.
